VNVC is the key unit in administering vaccines to curb the measles outbreak in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC)
A measles outbreak in HCMC (southern Vietnam) began in September 2024 and quickly spread to neighboring provinces, leading to a sharp rise in measles cases and fatalities among children. To contain the outbreak, HCMC Department of Health initiated a measles vaccination campaign using the MRVAC vaccine for children. More than 40 VNVC vaccination centers in the region have played a pivotal role in the effort, administering thousands of free measles vaccine doses both at VNVC centers and through mobile vaccination programs at schools, helping to protect tens of thousands of children in affected areas.
VNVC Immunization Center System has mobilized dozens of vaccination teams, including hundreds of doctors, nurses, and medical staff, to administer the MRVAC measles vaccine (Vietnam) to thousands of students across the city. Under the guidance of healthcare workers and school staff, parents and students received vaccination support in full compliance with VNVC’s safety protocols, ensuring a swift vaccination process.
Dr. Bach Thi Chinh, Level I Specialist, Medical Director of VNVC Immunization Center System, stated that if vaccines are not transported and stored safely under strict GSP standards, their quality cannot be guaranteed. In such cases, the entire effort of the measles vaccination campaign would be wasted, as the vaccines would fail to provide effective protection. Moreover, this could pose risks to children's health and safety during immunization. To address this, VNVC’s specialized GSP-certified refrigerated trucks transported vaccines directly to district health centers to receive the measles vaccines distributed by the city. The quality assurance and logistics teams maintained strict control over the vaccines from the moment they were handed over, throughout transportation, and upon arrival at VNVC’s specialized cold storage facilities, ensuring the first crucial step in vaccine safety.

As the largest private immunization center system in the city, with more than 40 centers, nearly 2,000 doctors, nurses, and medical staff, and a capacity to administer tens of thousands of vaccine doses per day, VNVC is also capable of deploying hundreds of mobile vaccination teams to schools and residential areas while maintaining the highest safety standards in the vaccination process.
Along with its fleet of refrigerated vehicles, Dr. Chinh stated that VNVC is also a pioneer in building and developing an internationally accredited cold chain storage network for vaccines. This includes large, high-quality vaccine storage facilities, with central cold storage warehouses in the northern, central, and southern regions, hundreds of cold storage units at its centers, a fleet of refrigerated transport vehicles, and specialized vaccine storage equipment; all certified to meet international GSP standards and approved by health authorities. Every VNVC immunization center nationwide is fully equipped with this cold chain system, enabling VNVC to concurrently store up to 400 million vaccine doses at a standard temperature of 2-8°C, and ensuring the ability to meet the vaccination needs of tens of millions of customers while maintaining a large reserve of various vaccines.
Dr. Bach Thi Chinh stated that VNVC’s network of nearly 200 immunization centers nationwide, including 39 centers in Ho Chi Minh City, is fully stocked with measles vaccines as well as vaccines for other serious diseases in both children and adults. VNVC also offers combination vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella, including Priorix (Belgium) and MMR II (U.S.), which enhance protection against multiple diseases with a single dose, reducing vaccination costs and the number of required injections. These vaccines are suitable for children from 9 months of age and adults.
VNVC standardizes vaccination quality uniformly across all centers nationwide, ensuring the highest levels of vaccine safety, professional expertise in pre-vaccination screening by doctors, and skilled vaccination procedures by trained nurses. Each center is fully equipped with specialized function rooms, post-vaccination monitoring rooms, and a high-standard vaccine storage system. Every VNVC immunization center has a dedicated post-vaccination response room stocked with essential emergency medications and equipment, including anti-shock kits and oxygen tanks, while staff undergo regular training in emergency response protocols. VNVC is also the only immunization system in Vietnam with a 24/7 post-vaccination monitoring and response hotline, providing not only direct support and guidance for VNVC customers but also assistance to the general public.

In addition to providing free measles vaccinations for children, VNVC Immunization Center System offers a full range of vaccines against other infectious diseases for both children and adults, given the complex epidemiological situation and the anticipated increase in diseases like flue, chickenpox, diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus due to the frequent flooding and rainfall expected until the end of the year.
VNVC offers various pricing incentives to help people access timely disease prevention, especially for disadvantaged families and children in special circumstances. As a pioneer in vaccination services, VNVC also provides a "vaccinate first, pay later" program, allowing customers to defer payment for up to 12 months with VNVC covering all interest expenses, enabling flexible payment options to help ease the financial burden on families.
