VNVC supports installment payments for over 100,000 vaccine doses to protect public health in Vietnam

The zero-interest vaccine installment program, "Get vaccinated first, pay later," launched by the VNVC Immunization Center System in partnership with Mcredit - a member of Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) - and SBI Shinsei Bank (Japan), has reached a milestone of 100 billion VND disbursed in just 1 year. This initiative has provided financial support for installment payments on more than 100,000 essential vaccine doses, including 6-in-1, flu, meningococcal, measles-mumps-rubella, rotavirus, HPV, chickenpox, and hepatitis A & B, benefiting nearly 7,000 children and adults across Vietnam.

This timely, humanitarian, and innovative initiative by VNVC has helped expand vaccine coverage, safeguard public health, and is particularly significant amid the shortage of key vaccines in the National Expanded Immunization Program (EPI).

After the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) has frequently faced vaccine shortages, leaving many children - especially those from economically disadvantaged families - without full immunization. Amid broader economic challenges, many industrial zones and businesses shut down after the pandemic, resulting in hundreds of thousands of workers losing their jobs. This, in turn, has created financial barriers that prevent many parents from affording private vaccination services for their children. Not only children but also most groups within the community have experienced interruptions in their vaccination schedules due to economic constraints. Vaccination rates remain low among working-age adults, adolescents, and the elderly.

Understanding the financial difficulties, needs, and concerns of the public, =VNVC Immunization Center System, in collaboration with Mcredit - a member of Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) - and SBI Shinsei Bank (Japan), has introduced a groundbreaking solution: allowing customers to "Get vaccinated first, pay later" with a simple unsecured application process using only a citizen ID card and 0% interest for up to 12 months.

By revolutionizing payment options for vaccination services, the "get vaccinated first, pay later" program - offering a simple, interest-free installment plan - has helped many families overcome financial barriers during a period of economic downturn. Thanks to this practical and community-driven initiative by VNVC and Mcredit, thousands of children and adults have received timely vaccines, stayed on the immunization schedule, and experienced safe, high-quality vaccination services.

In just 1 year since its launching (as of July 2024), VNVC’s "Get vaccinated first, pay later" zero-interest installment program has reached its first milestone of 100 billion VND disbursed, supporting nearly 7,000 customers in receiving more than 100,000 doses of high-quality vaccines for both children and adults.

The most frequently chosen "Get vaccinated first, pay later" packages are the vaccine packages for children aged 0-12 months and 0-24 months, accounting for more than 70%, primarily serving parents who are workers and low-to-middle-income laborers at companies, factories, and industrial zones. Following these are the HPV vaccine packages for adolescents and adults, as well as vaccine packages for women preparing for pregnancy. These figures once again highlight the humanitarian and timely impact of the program, ensuring that those who need vaccines the most - pregnant women, young children, and elders with underlying health conditions - receive the protection they need.

The achievement of 100 billion VND disbursed in the "Get vaccinated first, pay later" program demonstrates VNVC's commitment to supporting vulnerable groups, the elderly, and especially children in remote areas by providing access to high-quality, safe vaccines, and significantly increasing community vaccination coverage rates.

Present at the Ceremony announcing the first 100 billion VND in zero-interest installments at VNVC Hoang Van Thu (Ho Chi Minh City), Dr. Bach Thi Chinh, Level I Specialist, Medical Director of VNVC Immunization Center System, shared: “The ‘Get vaccinated first, pay later’ program, jointly implemented by VNVC and Mcredit, is a solution to break down financial barriers and promote vaccine equality, with thousands of customers participating.
