VNVC provided health checkups for over 1000 agent orange victims
VNVC Immunization Center System, in collaboration with Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, Dong Nai Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, and reputable healthcare facilities in Dong Nai Province, organized a comprehensive health examination program, including tests and ultrasounds, for over 1,000 Agent Orange victims in the area.
Over 60 years have passed since the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam, yet even today, children born in peacetime bear the wounds of war. Parents, their hair now silver, tirelessly care for their children, whose bodies and minds bear the scars of this tragedy. More than 60 years later, the pain of Agent Orange continues to inflict deep, persistent suffering on thousands of Vietnamese families, both physically and mentally.
Cancer, neurological disorders, miscarriages, and especially birth defects - blindness, deafness, intellectual disability - in subsequent generations are the devastating legacies of Agent Orange. It is heartbreaking to see so many victims suffering, their weakened health preventing them from working and forcing reliance on their families. Countless innocent children are born with unwanted disabilities.
Dong Nai is one of the provinces most heavily sprayed with Agent Orange and has one of the largest numbers of Agent Orange victims. Statistics show that over 14,000 victims still reside in the province, bearing severe disabilities and facing significant hardships. In many families, the effects of this terrible poison have extended to a third generation.
To commemorate War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27th) and Vietnam's Agent Orange Disaster Day (August 10th), Vietnam Agent Orange/Dioxin Association, National Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims, and Dong Nai Provincial Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims, in collaboration with Dong Nai Provincial Department of Health and sponsored by VNVC Immunization Center System, organized comprehensive health checkups, including tests and ultrasounds, for 1,000 Agent Orange victims. The program will also provide further treatment support for victims requiring medical care.
“Partnering with the preventive healthcare sector, VNVC Immunization Center System has been bringing vaccines closer to millions of children and families across Vietnam. Millions of children and adults have had access to safe, high-quality vaccines imported from reputable international manufacturers. VNVC has indirectly helped reduce the burden of illness and treatment costs associated with dangerous infectious diseases, particularly for unvaccinated children, individuals with underlying health conditions, and those with weakened immune systems. Furthermore, VNVC is aware of its community responsibility and stands alongside the people in their journey towards disease prevention and community health protection”, shared Mr. Do Xuan Duong, Director of VNVC Dong Nai Immunization Center.
The health checkups took place at: Conference Hall, Dong Nai Provincial General Hospital.
VNVC is deeply privileged to have partnered with and offered support to the Agent Orange victims of Dong Nai province. We extend our best wishes for their health and well-being.
