VNVC distributes 5,000 helmets to ensure children travel to school safely
To protect children going to school safely, Vaccination System for Children and Adults VNVC distributed 5,000 high-quality helmets to children nationwide combined with a creative helmet painting workshop. This initiative was spearheaded by Ms. Karen Glenn – the Founder of BrainGuard LLC (USA), launched and organized by VNVC. In addition, Prof. Ph.D. M.D. Jeffrey Glenn – the Director of Stanford Institute of Microbiology and Anti-epidemic (USA) participated in the program.
The helmet donation event and creative helmet painting workshop were held by VNVC in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Long An, Can Tho and many other locations across the country.

Children are the future of the country, therefore, they should be given priority care and protection. It is necessary for children to wear helmets while travelling. It is not only to ensure their safety but also to create discipline and develop awareness of obeying traffic laws. In particular, helmets serve as “shields” to protect and minimize head injuries for children in case of an accident.
Therefore, all children need to wear helmets properly and fully when participating in traffic by motorbikes and even bicycles. According to various studies, wearing helmets while cycling can reduce the risk of head injury by up to 45% and the risk of death by up to 70%. Helmets help reduce the risk of traumatic brain injury and other serious injuries, and assure a sense of security and confidence.
Although the benefits of helmets are well-documented and mandated in legal documents in many countries, including Vietnam, many people still don’t understand their importance. This lack of understanding leads to millions of deaths and disabilities worldwide each year, particularly among young children, depriving them of healthy lives and future opportunities.
Understanding that reality, VNVC organized the “Comprehensive protection for children going to school” program, which included a range of meaningful activities including propagating about wearing helmets for children; consulting and answering parents’ questions about vaccination for children to go to school; creative helmet painting workshop and giving away 5,000 high-quality helmets to children and many other interesting activities.

According to Ms. Karen Glenn, Founder of BrainGuard LLC, (USA), it is essential for children to wear helmets while riding bicycles. Helmets help reduce the risk of head injuries and traumatic brain injuries, as well as the risk of fatal injuries. Helmets reduce the risk of head injuries, brain injuries, and severe brain injuries by 85%, 88% and at least 75%, respectively.
According to the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC), any level of traumatic brain injury can disrupt a child’s development and limit their ability to participate in school activities and sports. Wearing helmets is essential, even while cycling because helmets reduce the risk and severity of head injuries and traumatic brain injuries. Obviously, wearing a helmet strongly reduces the risk of serious and fatal head injuries.
The program was attended by leading and reputable experts and doctors in Neurology, Musculoskeletal, Pediatrics, and Preventive Medicine from the US and Vietnam. It emphasizes the importance of measures to prevent the risk of injuries when children go to school, such as wearing helmets and proactively vaccinating fully and timely with all important vaccines recommended for each age group:

VNVC’s distribution of 5,000 helmets was accompanied by a series of engaging activities for children, turning helmets into “artworks”. Each helmet tells a story, with skillful hands and rich fantasy, “little painters” created a colorful and wonderful painting workshop.
Vaccination System for Children and Adults VNVC will continue to distribute helmets to thousands of children nationwide and host creative helmet painting workshops in various locations, especially remote and mountainous areas. This effort aims to raise awareness about helmet use and vaccination, helping to prevent dangerous infectious diseases as millions of children prepare to start the 2024 - 2025 school year.
